Phosphatidylserine is a naturally occurring molecule sometimes used in dietary supplements. It is claimed to be beneficial for treating ADHD, depression, Alzheimer's disease, or age-related dementia or cognitive decline. Although phosphatidylserine is essential for normal brain function, it is not known whether it is safe or effective as a supplement. Side effects that have been reported with phosphatidylserine supplements include gas, upset stomach, and insomnia.
