Because no information is available on what is considered a safe, effective NADH dosage, it's best to follow the guidelines on the label for your particular product. In studies, doses ranging from 2.5 to 15 mg were used for a variety of purposes. However, such NADH dosages have not been proven to be safe or effective.
NADH Dosage: An Overview
NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrate) is a naturally occurring molecule used in chemical reactions throughout the human body. It is also used in dietary supplements. It is important to note that unlike medications, for which the standard doses have been well established, less information is available for determining the best dose for supplements, including NADH. Because NADH supplementation has been studied so little, there is not a lot of good information to guide you in a choice of NADH dosage.
Reasonable NADH DosingIn studies, doses of 2.5 to 15 mg of NADH, taken once daily or every other day, have been used for a variety of purposes, including general nutritional enhancement. However, it has not been adequately demonstrated that such doses are both safe and effective.
General Information on Your NADH DosageSome considerations for people taking NADH include the following:
- Be sure to follow the directions on the label of your particular NADH product. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless your healthcare provider specifically recommends this.
- It is important to find a trustworthy, reputable NADH manufacturer. Some dietary supplements have been found to be contaminated with heavy metals or prescription drugs, and some have been found to have much more or much less of the featured ingredient than their label states. Your pharmacist is a good resource for information on which manufacturers are most reputable.
- If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or NADH dosing in general, please talk with your healthcare provider.
