Research generally suggests that ginkgo biloba probably does not work for the following uses:
 
  • Sexual problems caused by antidepressant medications
  • Altitude sickness
  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

Final Thoughts on Ginkgo Biloba Effectiveness

Early studies suggest that ginkgo biloba may be beneficial for several uses, including memory enhancement and Alzheimer's disease. However, further research is needed to confirm that ginkgo biloba is indeed effective (and safe) for such uses. It is important to remember than ginkgo biloba is classified as a dietary supplement (not a drug) and is, therefore, less strictly regulated than drugs.
