Exelon Warnings and Precautions
Before starting Exelon, warnings and precautions for the drug should be discussed with your healthcare provider. It is important to know that Exelon could potentially cause severe gastrointestinal reactions, significant weight loss, and a dangerously slow heart rate. You can help minimize risks by telling your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have and all other medications you are taking before starting Exelon.
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Exelon® (rivastigmine tartrate) if you have:
- Heart problems
- Stomach or intestinal ulcers (or a history of such problems)
- Bladder problems
- Asthma
- Epilepsy or seizures
- An upcoming surgery
- Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
- Breastfeeding.
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
