Dementia? Demensia is a common misspelling of dementia.
Dementia is a word used to describe certain symptoms that are caused by conditions that affect the brain. These conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease or Huntington's disease, impair intellectual functioning and interfere with normal activities and relationships. People with dementia may experience memory loss, lose their ability to solve problems and maintain emotional control, and experience personality changes and behavioral problems. Medications are now available to improve symptoms and slow the progression of Alzheimer's and other progressive dementias.
