Aricept® (donepezil hydrochloride) is a medication often prescribed to treat dementia associated with mild, moderate, or severe Alzheimer's disease. It is taken once a day at bedtime and comes in tablet, liquid, and orally disintegrating tablet form. By preventing the breakdown of a certain brain chemical, Aricept helps slow the decline in memory and learning, and allows a person with Alzheimer's to perform simple daily tasks. Common side effects of this drug include insomnia, dizziness, and generalized pain.
