Memory loss, confusion, and impaired judgment are typical symptoms exhibited in people with Alzheimer's disease. Other symptoms include restlessness, a deterioration of language skills, and mood swings.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of
dementia seen in people ages 65 to 74. In most cases, the brain tissue of someone with this condition contains abnormal protein clumps and tangled bundles of fibers. Exactly why these abnormalities occur, however, is unknown. Medications can help treat symptoms, but as of yet, there is no cure.
